Is it chronic?

What counts as chronic migraine

Doctors usually describe migraine as chronic when you have headaches on 15 or more days a month for more than three months, and at least 8 of those days have migraine features such as one-sided throbbing pain, nausea, or sensitivity to light and sound.

Many people with chronic migraine started with occasional attacks. Over the years, frequent painkiller use, poor sleep, ongoing stress, hormonal changes and digestive problems can make attacks more frequent.

Whether or not your headaches meet that definition, if they affect your work, sleep or family life most weeks, a longer plan is worth discussing.

  2. Stabilise

Diet correction, routine changes and herbal medicines to reduce the frequency and intensity of attacks.

  3. Treat deeper

Panchakarma therapies where suitable, to address the underlying imbalance.

  4. Sustain

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long does chronic migraine treatment take?

It depends on how long you have had migraine, how often attacks come and how your body responds. Chronic migraine usually needs months rather than weeks. Your doctor will give you a timeline after your assessment.

I have had migraine for over 10 years. Can Ayurveda still help?

Many of our patients have long-standing migraine. Your doctor will assess you and explain honestly what improvement to expect.

Do I have to stop my current medicines?

No. Never stop prescribed medicines on your own. If your doctor suggests changes, they will be gradual and planned with you.

Will I need Panchakarma?

Not everyone does. Your doctor recommends Panchakarma only if it suits your condition and health.
